Steel-Rubber MAT Expansion Joints
SJ- RJ Series
Expansion joints formed by rubber mats with internal reinforcement plates.
The dimensions of the carpets are determined by the required excursion capacity and by the width of the gap between two adjacent slabs (or between slab and gravel wall) that they must cover.
The carpets of the C.M.M. joints they are usually supplied in 1m or 2m portions, suitably cut and shaped to allow perfect compatibility with the carriageway profile: C.M.M. in fact it provides for the supply of the joint line already adapted to the road section of the project.
The anchor bolts are positioned with a pitch of 250mm or less, with slotted holes so as to facilitate the laying operations.
The joint portions are equipped with a shaped head for male-female connection, to guarantee a perfect coupling between the adjacent mats.
The complete supply includes the anchors (hot-dip galvanized class 8.8 threaded bars with relative bolts), the lower drainage flashing with epoxy adhesive, the grouting and sealing epoxy resins and the fiber-reinforced bedding mortar.

SJ SERIES
These expansion joints are the simplest and most inexpensive joints, lacking of centre steel plates placed in order to cover the gap between the adjacent decks. For this reason, they are only usable for small displacements (+/-40mm maximum), when the maximum width of the gap (in conjunction with the completely open joint) is not elevated and there isn’t the necessity of a centre plate to sustain a vehicle load. The displacement capacity is ensured by means of the rubber bellows placed in the centre, in conjunction with the gap. Available models: SJ50 (+/-25mm) SJ80( +/-40mm) |
RJ SERIES
The main peculiarity of this type of joints is the centre plate, which is internally vulcanised into the rubber profile and placed in conjunction with the gap, that allows the resistance to the vehicle load even with great strokes and displacements. The displacement capacity is ensured by means of the shear strain of the internal rubber layers placed between the centre plate and the lateral flange plates, with a mechanism completely comparable to that of the elastomeric bridge bearings. |
